Opening Ceremony

Under blue skies and a hot sun, the 2015 FAI European Microlight championships have been declared open. A local brass band led all competitors out onto the airfield, watched by several hundred locals.

After speeches from the President of the local aero club, the vice-President of the Polish Aero Club and a welcome from Competition Director Anna TATARCZUK, it was left to the President of the Jury, Mr. Wolfgang LINTL, to wish competitors the best of luck and to enjoy the championships.

There followed a short airshow; firstly the Polish designed and built Fregata motor glider...

...and then a dramatic display of aerobatics from an Extra 300, flying over, around and sometimes threatening to fly through the crowd!

Each team flew their flag with the help of a local child holding their country name.

No more tasks today, briefing at 1700 for a navigation task tomorrow (Sunday).
